laser-hair-removalThe Cutera CoolGlide Laser Difference

The Cutera CoolGlide was designed to be the most effective laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types, from light to very dark, including tanned patients. Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling allow extremely effective, safe and permanent results.

The Cool Glide has a built-in safety system so that its energy can be adjusted to adapt to different skin colors and effectively remove hair no matter what the skin tone. The Cutera CoolGlide uses the pigment in the hair to conduct heat into the hair follicle and destroy it. The hair must have some color for this process to work, thus white or grey hair cannot be removed with laser. Dark, coarse hair is the best candidate for laser hair removal. Any area of the body can be treated, especially the bikini and underarm areas where ingrown hairs vanish like magic. Ingrown hairs vanish like magic. Some people achieve the hair reduction they desire in three treatments; some people require more.

What do CoolGlide treatments feel like?

As the name implies, the CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. However, Dr. Brown uses a superior numbing cream, plenty of ice, and pre-medication if necessary. Usually several treatments are required because not all follicles are active at the same time. Dr. Brown's does all the treatments herself and her medical training ensures that your hair removal procedure is as painless as possible.

What happens after the treatment?

Immediately following your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair. Actually, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.

What are the possible side effects?

Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less.

How does the CoolGlide compare with electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful hair removal process that involves inserting a needle into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, the CoolGlide effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
